What We Believe

Life By His Word is rooted in the authority of Scripture and centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ. Because we are a Bible teaching ministry, we believe it is important to be clear about the biblical convictions that shape what we teach, create, and share.

Core Biblical Foundations

These are the foundational doctrines of the Christian faith that shape our understanding of God, Scripture, salvation, and eternal life.

I. Holy Scriptures

We believe the Bible, contained in the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is the authoritative Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and without error in its original autographs. The Scriptures are the final and supreme authority in all matters of faith, doctrine, and Christian living.

II. God and the Holy Trinity

We believe in one God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, who is the eternal Creator and Sustainer of the heavens and the earth. We believe that God eternally exists in three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Each member of the Trinity is equal in power, glory, absolute deity, and eternal nature.

III. Jesus Christ the Messiah

We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah of God, foretold by the biblical prophets. We believe that Jesus is the Second Person of the Trinity, God the Son, who exists eternally and came to earth as God manifested in the flesh.

We believe Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and lived a completely sinless life. We believe Jesus died on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for the sins of the world, was buried for three days and three nights, and was physically raised from the dead by God the Father.

We believe that after His physical resurrection, Jesus appeared to over 500 witnesses, and after forty days ascended back to heaven, where He is currently seated at the right hand of the Father, serving as our Great High Priest and Advocate.

IV. The Holy Spirit and His Gifts

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, who indwells every believer to comfort, guide, convict, and empower them for godly living. We believe in the biblical gifts of the Spirit, and that the Holy Spirit sovereignly imparts spiritual gifts to believers as He wills for His purposes, for the edification of the Church, and for the advancement of the Kingdom of God.

V. Creation

We believe that God created the heavens and the earth in six literal, twenty-four-hour days and rested on the seventh day, approximately 6,000 years ago.

VI. The Creation and Ultimate Purpose of Man

We believe that God created man in His own image and in His likeness. We believe that the ultimate purpose of man is to glorify God and live in a deep, vibrant, eternal relationship with his Maker.

We believe that God created only two distinct biological genders, male and female, which are unchangeable and designed by God to reflect His glory.

VII. Biblical Marriage

We believe that marriage is a sacred covenant instituted by God, joining only one biological man and one biological woman together for life in an exclusive, lifelong union.

VIII. The Spiritual Condition of Man

We believe that because of the fall of man in the Garden, every person is spiritually dead in sin and rebellion against God. Consequently, a person must be spiritually born again by the Holy Spirit to be saved, justified, and inherit everlasting life in the Kingdom of God.

IX. Salvation and Redemption

We believe that faith in the redemptive sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross is the only way a person can be born again and saved from the wrath of God and eternal torment. Salvation is a free gift of God’s grace, received entirely by faith alone, and is not earned through human works, legalism, or religious rituals.

X. The Church — The Living Body of Christ

We believe that the Church, the true Body of Christ, is composed of all individuals, both Jews and Gentiles, who have entered into the New Covenant through saving faith in Jesus.

We believe the Church is a living organism, not merely a physical building or a weekly service. It is the spiritual body of Christ on earth, called to be unified in truth and on mission together, with each believer fulfilling their unique role according to their spiritual gifts to accomplish the Great Commission and advance God’s Kingdom purposes on earth.

XI. The Reality of Hell

We believe that Hell is a literal place of conscious and eternal suffering, separated from God’s presence, first intended for the devil and his demonic angels. We believe that individuals who die without receiving the redemptive gift of Jesus Christ and remain in their transgressions will be resurrected to undergo eternal condemnation.

They will be cast into the Lake of Fire to experience righteous judgment and everlasting torment, forever removed from the glory of the Lord.

XII. Eternity

We believe that after the Great White Throne Judgment, God will destroy the old order and establish the New Heavens and the New Earth, including the New Jerusalem. There, all redeemed believers will dwell in perfect fellowship with God for eternity in His glorious, everlasting Kingdom.

Biblical Convictions

These are convictions we hold and teach based on our study of Scripture. While we stand firmly on these beliefs, we recognize that faithful Christians may understand some of these matters differently. Our desire is to remain humble, charitable, and faithful as we seek to study and obey God’s Word.

I. God’s Instructions for Living and the Sabbath

We believe that God’s instructions for holy living, including the Law or Torah, remain highly relevant and applicable for believers today and bring blessing when obeyed. However, we also recognize that these instructions cannot be perfectly kept in this present fallen age, and they are not, nor have they ever been, an instrument of salvation.

We believe that the biblical holidays and feasts, such as Passover, Pentecost, and the Feast of Tabernacles, prophetically reveal God’s ultimate plan of redemption through Jesus Christ and bring significant spiritual blessing, insight, and joy to believers when observed.

We believe that the Sabbath, the biblical day of rest, is holy, set apart by God, and occurs on the seventh day of the week. At the same time, we believe believers are called to walk in a continuous lifestyle of devotion, worshiping and serving God every day of the week.

II. The Nation and People of Israel

We believe that the Jewish people are the rightful owners of the Land of Israel through an unconditional, everlasting biblical covenant established by God. We believe there is profound spiritual and prophetic significance to the historic reestablishment of the sovereign nation of Israel in 1948.

III. The Rapture of Believers

We believe in the blessed hope of the Church: the rapture of believers. We believe this catching away of the saints will occur prior to the pouring out of the wrath of God, likely after the three-and-a-half-year midpoint of the final seven-year tribulation period.

IV. The Millennial Kingdom

We believe that at the end of the final seven years, Daniel’s 70th week, Jesus Christ will physically and visibly return to the Mount of Olives with His saints. He will establish His literal Millennial Kingdom on earth, ruling and reigning in righteousness from Jerusalem for one thousand years.

V. Final Resurrection and Judgment

We believe that after the one-thousand-year earthly reign of Christ, there will be a physical resurrection of the dead and a final, inescapable judgment of all humanity before the Great White Throne of God.
